I've already got a will. Do I still need this?

A will tells people who should receive your assets. InOrder documents where everything actually is. Without it, the executor of your estate faces a significant task: tracking down bank accounts, ISAs, pensions, insurance policies, and digital accounts across a trail of emails, apps, and login screens. InOrder gives whoever handles your estate a clear, structured document to start from — and the two work well together.

Where should I keep my vault file?

Somewhere you control and won't lose: cloud storage (iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox), a USB stick kept safe, or alongside your will. If you want to share a copy with your solicitor or family, give them the PDF export — it opens with no password needed, unlike the vault file.

What happens if I forget my vault password?

Accepted Answer

There is no reset — by design. InOrder uses encryption built into your browser, which means the password never leaves your device and there's no 'forgot password' link we can send you. The solution: store the password somewhere you trust and won't lose. A password manager is the most reliable option. Your vault password is only needed to edit your vault; you do not need it to access an exported PDF.

Question 4

Is my data actually private? How do I know you can't see it?

Accepted Answer

This is the right question to ask, and the answer is architectural rather than a promise in a privacy policy. Your data is encrypted inside your browser before you export it. We use the Web Crypto API — the same cryptography standard your bank relies on — to encrypt everything locally using your vault password as the key. We have no mechanism to see your data even if we wanted to, because it never reaches us.
